06.02.2010 - First Team vs Hemsworth

After the shock resignation of manager Paul Breary, new Manager Jon Broadbent could not have got a better start in his first game in charge when bronte raced to a 3 nil lead in the first 12 minutes.

The first came within 2 minutes as a poor goal kick from the keeper went straight to Dave Armstrong who controlled and slotted a through ball to James Bailey who finished calmly to put Bronte one goal to the good.

The second wasn't long in coming when Bailey was brought down in the box and Armstong cooly scored the penalty. It could have been so different as Tom Emmot was lured into a lunge in the box and Hemsworth were awarded a penalty of their own. However Dave Bainbridge guessed right and made a smart save down to his right.

On twelve minutes Bronte were awarded a freekick which Dave Alderson flighted towards goal and the Hemsworth defender dived full length to handle. Only a yellow card was given for dissent, where some thought a red for the deliberate hand ball may have been justified. Armstrong again stepped up and although his poor penalty was saved he lifted the ball back over the keeper for his second of the game.

It seemed like it would be an easy day out for Bronte but such thoughts were pushed from their mind by halftime as first the right winger cut in and smashed a superb left foot drive in off the bar and then a freekick was poorly defended and Hemsworth scored a second to make the score 3-2 at halftime.

The second half started quite edgily until a pin point cross from Bailey was met by an onrushing Ross Chapman to put Bronte 4-2 to the good. This ended Hemsworth's resistance and it was one way traffic from now on. Another great cross from Bailey was met at pace by Gareth Ritson to make it five
Armstrong then added to his tally with two further goals.

He completed his hat trick with a nice dinked finish after being put through one on one and his fourth with a nice sidefoot finsh after again being put through. Although the reult does not change Bronte's league position in fifth it was the perfect start to Bronte's era under new management.
