Bronte's good start to the season was put severly to the test by a decent Hunsworth side. The early exchanges were quite even but the game took a massive twist when James Bailey's indiscipline caused him to be sent from the field for foul and abusive language after only 12 minutes.
Leaving Dave Armstrong up front on his own this left him with a lot of work to do and Bronte with fewer outlets to utilise. On 17 minutes a decent ball over the top found returning centre half Jamie Rowell chasing his marker towards the Bronte goal. Perhaps still adjusting in his first game back he was unable to stop the striker cutting inside and drilling the ball high into the roof of the Bronte net.
Although not completely outplayed the Bronte midfield was struggling to come to terms with facing an extra player and unfortunately a lapse of concentration and perhaps work rate left Bronte keeper Bainbridge no choice but to leave his line to close down the advancing midfielder. The Midfielder managed to get a toe to the ball first and and a stone wall penalty was the result with Bainbridge perhaps fortunate to remain on the field, never mind escape a caution.
Firmly up against it approaching half time and Bronte's best move of the match involving good football played on the floor allowed Nelson to unleash from over twenty yards and reduce the deficit to 2-1.
Bronte should have know the second half would be all about the work rate, but this was paerhaps lacking in places. Greenaway was introduced for Taylor as Bronte moved back to two up front and worked hard but with no real joy. The next change was to bring Fax on for Blakca as Bronte tried to get more attacking options but unfortunatley another lapse allowed the impressive Hunsworth forward a free run at Bainbridge which he finished cooly.
At three one the final change was to introduce youngster Johnathon Smith for Gaz Ritson who despite picking up a knee injury did not look out of place.
In the end the sending off may have cost Bronte the chance to get anything from the game as Hunsworth continued their perfect start to the season, winning five out of five. Up next for Bronte a very short away trip to face Keighley Shamrocks.
